CertaPro Painters® of Portland: Locally Owned and Operated Since 2010

CertaPro Painters® of Portland has been locally owned and operated since 2010. Current owners, Mary and Dennis Hodge, have lived in the area since 2008 and acquired the business in 2016. Mary and Dennis have always been passionate about their community and buying local, so when the opportunity arose to purchase the Portland CertaPro Painters® business, it seemed like a perfect fit.

Dennis’s roots are in residential property management working in his family’s business growing up, then working in project management and consulting after college.

Mary has been able to see the power that beautiful, inviting spaces have to invite and build community as a commercial real estate construction lender.  Since assuming ownership of CertaPro Painters® of Gresham, Portland, and Beaverton, Mary and Dennis have been busy providing residential and commercial painting services to hundreds of homeowners and business owners throughout the region.

The business has grown significantly since 2010 as a result of hard work, superior service, a great team and an unwavering commitment to clients’ satisfaction. According to Mary, “Having been serving our local communities for almost 15 years, we love being invited back to work again for customers we met many years ago. We do a lot of marketing and advertising, but most of our business and growth comes from our customers telling their friends, family, and colleagues about us!”

Owning a business comes with great rewards and sometimes a few challenges. Mary cites her amazing team as the primary reward. “Getting to see people on our team take on new challenges and push themselves to achieve their goals is the most rewarding part of business ownership.” Some of the challenges are in keeping up with demand our short exterior painting season. “The seasonality of the business can be hard to manage at times. There is never enough time in the day during the dry months! Our team is very motivated to accomplish their goals and competitive with each other! We have to encourage people to take some time off to recharge and enjoy our beautiful Portland summers with their families!”

Mary and Dennis are also passionate about giving back to the community. We and the entire team have supported several charities, two of which are Project Lemonade and Oregon Humane Society. Project Lemonade supports and empowers Oregon’s youth who have been impacted by the foster care system. Oregon Humane Society is dedicated to pets in our community through adoption, education, medical care, and humane law enforcement. You can learn more about these incredible local organizations here:
